Adopt a Pekingese / Japanese Chin / Mixed (medium coat)

Mugsy is a very special dog, needing a very special home.  He came into PNC rescue last fall from a shelter that recognized he needed more time and help than they could give him.  His fur was matted and dirty and he was so terrified - he was defensive! To clean him up required anesthesia and the vet was shocked to uncover bruises over much of his body.  A more complete exam didn't show any broken bones but Mugsy would need time to both heal and trust people again.  We don't know how he was injured, but clearly he reacted to touch.

 In time, with good dog mentors, he quickly demonstrated his eagerness to be a good boy.  He is potty trained, and loves to take walks.  He plays with toys, and gives great kisses. However, he needs time and patience to learn to trust you.  He needs to have a certain amount of control in his life - an example would be he is happy to sit on the couch to watch TV but when it is time to get up, you need to just get up and let him follow you - he wants to get down by himself.  Busy energy makes him nervous and he must have flash backs to bad times in his life and will snap. 

If you are an adult family, with time and patience he might be the perfect guy for you.  He is very willing to please and loves his people.  He currently shares a home with other dogs but would be fine as an only dog too. 

A home in the Twin Cities Metro is preferred.  The foster family is willing to work with the adopter to insure a successful transition.

His adoption donation is $ 350 + Tax $ 24.50.

All dogs are current on core vaccines, spayed/neutered, heartworm tested and on preventative, micro-chipped and if recommended by a Vet, have had a dental cleaning and other treatment to get and keep them healthy while in the rescue’s care. All dogs are living in foster homes and house manners, including potty training and any behavioral issues are being worked on.  But we never say our dogs are 100% house- trained as when they transition to a new home there can be accidents while they adjust to a new environment and schedule.  

PNC Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit and any and all donations over and above the adoption donation are tax deductible.  We have a large group of dogs in our Furever Foster program that acts as a foster based sanctuary for dogs not likely to be adopted.  The rescue keeps these dogs healthy, comfortable and on necessary medications with necessary treatments for life.
